Independence Day Lapbook

Today, in addition to our pirate adventure, we did a quick 4th of July Lapbook.

We used a few different sources for ideas:
Lapbook Lessons
Homeschooling in Heels
And this one on LuLu

Levi used some of his new crayons he got for his birthday for this lapbook (thank you Brooke!).   When he saw me coming with the camera he got goofy with his head.

We got some new file folders that are fun colors, much better than boring "vanilla" colored ones.   Levi decorated the outside with firework prints.  To make the stampers, we just twisted pipe cleaners.  A little glitter thrown on top, and you have fireworks!

Next we did a science project - fireworks in a jar!

First, take some oil (around 1/4 cup) and add a few drops of food coloring (not too much, just a couple drops of each color!).   Stir it up with a fork until it looks like this:

Fill a jar with water and let it settle.  Then dump in the oil mixture.

Here it is in action!

Here is the finished lapbook:

Tomorrow, we get to go see fireworks!   Happy 4th of July!
