Crabs

Yesterday, we learned about crabs - just a quick lesson for our ongoing under the sea unit study.

Here is the craft project we did from Naturally Educational

Its got a coloring page print out for the background, which Levi colored with crayons.  Then watercolor paint over the top, and a decorated cardstock shell.

We looked at the anatomy of a crab:

We read a book by one of my favorite children's authors, Eric Carle - A House for Hermit Crab.

Homeschool share has a lapbook to go with this book.  We used "Hermit Crab's Year" when reading the story.

And we also read several crab books!

Harry Horseshoe Crab, which is written by a local author.
Happy Hermit Crab, also by the same author (all of her books are environmentally minded, which I like  - they remind kids that they can help keep ocean creatures safe and healthy!)
Is this a House for Hermit Crab?
The Lifecycle of a Crab

The answer to the question on my Whale Post:   Its Blue Whale poop!!    Ever sense reading the book "Everyone Poops", Levi (ok and me too), have wondered what whale poop looks like.  The book asks "What does whale poop look like?" on one of the pages, but never answers the question!   So when learning about whales, I googled it.
